Message from Jay

District Deputy & First Lady
Jay & Margie McCarthy

Our Lady of Hope Council # 12791.
It was their 33rd Wedding Anniversary,

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to my Brother Knights and your wonderful families!

Last Saturday night Margie and I had the privilege of participating in the annual Leesburg Parade led by the Knights of Columbus.  This, for me, was the true start of my Christmas Season - having the freedom and opportunity to express "Merry Christmas" (and receiving this beautiful wish back) from hundreds of on lookers - from young and old - reinforces once again "Why WE do what WE do".  I am Proud to be a Knight of Columbus!

As repeated by our Worthy State Deputy Kelly Mortensen last week at the District Deputy meeting, " The Knights of Columbus seeks gentlemen who WANT to be Knights of Columbus!  The Order needs you; your Church needs you."

" Have you ever considered becoming a Knight of Columbus?"

You are all reminded that it is up to ALL OF US to promote membership as well as to encourage our new Brother Knights to participate in one of the many Charitable undertakings your Council promotes throughout the year.

This year as well you are reminded of the request made by our State Deputy in July to reach out to young men and women and ask them:

"Have you ever considered becoming a Priest or a Nun?"

As Knights, we are all tasked with helping our Church, our Bishops, our Priests and Nuns, in identifying and encouraging those called to religious life.

"If you won't do it, who will?"

Our next major District initiative will be on January 9th as we will provide dinner and entertainment to 250+ special needs atheletes during their Northern Virginia Winter Olympics.  St. Joseph Church - Herndon - will host this exciting event.  Your support is needed and welcome.  Details have been provided to your GK.  Please step up and assist!

Please always keep in mind "why we do what we do" - AD GLORIAM DEI - "FOR THE GLORY OF GOD" - WHAT A MOTIVATING THOUGHT!

GO FORTH AND DO WHAT WE DO BEST - Practice CHARITY, UNITY, FRATERNITY AND PATRIOTISM!

Sincerely,

Jay McCarthy

District 18 Deputy

Together Everyone Accomplished More!
Dear Brothers and Families of District 18,

It all began where it was completed with the installation of Our Lady of Hope Council # 12791. Thanks to all of you it was a great two years. The District grew to over 1300 Knights and their familes. Through VKCCI & KOVAR, Charity also grew to an all time high in the District.

Again, Thanks to all of you for your hard work and all that you do everyday. Your most gracious hospitality to us was overwhelming and most appreciated. This is a two years we will never forget.

Keep up the great work. Stop by in Williamsburg when you are in the area. The door is always open, with a little notice.

Vivat Jesus,

Jim & Regina
Former District Deputy District 18
